New eBook Launch!

Opp Public Library introduces eBooks, mobile checkout, and virtual library cards as part of new library app launch

As of April 29, 2021, Opp Library began offering virtual library cards, mobile checkout and interactive receipts to all library users through the cloudLibrary app.

With cloudLibrary, a patrons library card is just a touch away, eliminating the frustration of a forgotten or misplaced card. The virtual card can be used for any library transaction that traditionally required a physical card. In addition, users can add multiple cards and switch between accounts with ease.

cloudLibrary users can favorite, mark as read, and sort and filter a digital record of their library borrow history. This helps Opp Public Library users manage the items theyve borrowed and remember which books theyve already enjoyed on the app. The app features thousands of eBook titles from libraries all over the state of Alabama, so you’re sure to find something you love. It includes a wide variety of titles for everyone, including Adults, Teens, and Children.

We are so excited about this service and the increased convenience it provides for our patrons both in and outside of our librarys walls, says Courtney Smart, Director at Opp Library.

The new service is offered at no cost to all Opp Public Library patrons, requiring only a valid library card. Bibliothecas cloudLibrary app is available for free through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store or by visiting www.yourcloudlibrary.com. Users will then need to follow the prompts and simply login using their library card number.

Remember a library card is free to anyone who lives or owns property in Covington County, so if you don’t already have a card- come by & they will get you set up with one. All you need is your Alabama ID with your current address. If your current address is not on the ID, just bring a piece of mail with your name and address on it.

Stay in touch via social media, or speak with one of our friendly staff for more details or if you need assistance with cloudLibrary.

I was disappointed when I went to register for an account and computers were down. More disappointed when no one asked for my phone number to call me when they came back up. Please post on your website the status of your computers so patrons don't have to drive there and come back empty handed. Better yet, why not allow patrons to register on line??

I apologize for the inconvenience and am very sorry that you left disappointed. We were not able to activate new cards and our library software did not get fully restored until the next day. Since our software was not working means you also would not have been able to register online if we offered that. We were unaware of exactly when it would get back operational. For future reference, our phone number is 334-493-6423 and our email address is opppubliclibrary@gmail.com if you have any questions or if you need to reach us before visiting. We do keep our Facebook page updated with info, so feel free to give us a follow if you are on there. Our software is up and running with no issues, so you are more than welcome to come today and sign up for a library card. Thank you.
